The Rising Trend of Integrated Energy Storage Systems: Advantages and Industry Shifts
Energy storage is
experiencing explosive growth. Global energy storage capacity has seen
significant expansion in the past year, with a record addition of 16 GWh in
2022 and a remarkable year-on-year growth of 68%. BloombergNEF predicts a
continued upward trajectory, with a projected compound annual growth rate of
23% until 2030.
In the current landscape of energy storage products, split energy solutions dominate the market. Split solutions involve battery manufacturers providing battery systems, inverter manufacturers supplying hybrid inverters, and channels selling these products based on their compatibility. However, mixing different brands has led to various problems: complex installations, installers needing to understand how different products work together, and lengthy post-sales processes involving different manufacturers, significantly impacting the consumer experience.
To address these issues, an evident solution is integrating the various split products into highly integrated, all-in-one energy solutions. Currently, manufacturers such as Deye, Huawei, Goodwe, and Sungrow have introduced all-in-one solar storage and charging solutions, which have gained market popularity. In the future, we predict that integrated products will gradually replace traditional split solutions.
While integrated energy storage solutions come with a higher overall price tag, they offer distinct advantages that split systems cannot match, including:
Reduced Installation Time and Costs: High installation costs are a significant pain point for residential users, particularly in developed countries with substantial labor costs. In some cases, installation costs can even match equipment costs on a one-to-one basis. Integrated systems reduce the complexity of connections and wiring between components, making installation simpler. Installers only need to learn one set of installation procedures, eliminating the need for additional training. This significantly lowers installation expenses. Additionally, with just one manufacturer involved, after-sales support becomes much simpler, enhancing the consumer experience.
Better Space Utilization: Due to their high degree of integration, integrated systems occupy significantly less space than split systems. Moreover, the absence of interconnecting wires results in a neater and more aesthetically pleasing installation.
Safety Risk: Safety is paramount in energy storage products and a crucial consideration factor for consumers when investing in such products. Current products on the market face various safety issues, including risks in their technical paths, insufficient sensor coverage, and a lack of adequate protective measures. Sigenergy has incorporated the highest-level safety measures into product design to ensure system safety.
Complex Installation: Current products are known for their complex installations, requiring highly skilled installers. This results in time-consuming and labor-intensive installations, leading to extended waiting periods and high installation costs for consumers.
Low Integration: Devices dispersed with low integration and efficiency are common drawbacks of current products, particularly split ones. External wiring poses safety hazards, and low levels of intelligence in products are significant issues. Sigenergy has integrated Battery PCS, Battery Packs, EV DC Charger, PV Inverter, and EMS into one single unit. Furthermore, the company has introduced cutting-edge AI technology to create a smarter energy experience for consumers.
As the energy storage landscape evolves, integrated solutions are poised to reshape the industry by providing more efficient, cost-effective, and user-friendly options for consumers.
